Former coordinator of Goodluck Jonathan 2015 Presidential Campaign in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Abubakar Sidi, has observed that new entrants in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have abandoned the founding fathers of the party.

In an interview with LEADERSHIP in Abuja, Sidi noted this attitude has affected the fortunes of the party, which, according to him, is not good for the founding members of the party.

He regretted that those who suffered for the PDP to make it what it is today are no longer the ones controlling the affairs of the party, while the new entrants have hijacked the party and brought their people to manage the party’s affairs.

“Check the list of those leading the PDP presidential campaign and you will notice that they are new entrants. For instance the presidential candidate, the vice presidential candidate, the director general of the presidential campaign, are all new entrants. But the founding fathers of the party, such as Chief Olabode George, Ahmed Makarfi, Sule Lamido, including others have been abandoned.”

He also called on FCT residents remain calm and to maintain the peace as they come out next Saturday to elect the candidates of their choice in the rescheduled presidential and national assembly elections.

He continued: “You know that before now, I belonged to the PDP, but I am no more with the party, because new entrants in to the PDP have betrayed the founding fathers. What I will add is that FCT residents should remain calm, despite the shift in the election schedule.”
