Germany will host Argentina in a football friendly on Oct. 9 in Dortmund, the national federation DFB said on Friday.
The DFB said it met a request from coach Joachim Loew who had asked for top opponents in the year’s two friendlies, the other being a March 20 match against Serbia.
“It is important to measure yourself against the best teams on the way back to the top. Players and fans are looking forward to a match against Argentina,” Germany general manager Oliver Bierhoff said.
Germany’s eight other games this year are Euro 2020 qualifiers, starting with a tough March 24 trip to the Netherlands where they lost 3-0 last year in the UEFA Nations League.
The other opponents are Belarus, Estonia and Northern Ireland.
Germany went out in the FIFA World Cup group stage as holders and were then relegated from Nations League A in a bad year 2018.
Loew has started to rebuild the team as Germany aim to return to the top.
