Veritas Varsity Enrols 576 Students For 2018/19 Session

Veritas University Abuja, on Saturday formally enrolled 576 students for its 2018/19 academic session, following its 11th Matriculation ceremony held in Bwari.

Veritas University is a Catholic university, founded by the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria with a vision to providing quality, affordable and safe tertiary education for Nigerians irrespective of religion and denomination.

Speaking in a welcome address, Vice Chancellor of the University , Prof. Hyacinth Ichoku, congratulated the new intakes, but  cautioned them against indiscipline.

He advised them to abide by the school rules while remembering the sacrifices of their parents.

“Discipline comes first; without it, you cannot succeed in life and will amount to nothing.

“As we congratulate you, know also that your journey to discipline in life has began.

“We thank your parents and guardians who made it possible for you to be here, you must also remember the sacrifices they made for you to be here.

“Not everyone who desires education is privileged to get it, therefore, the only way you can reward them is by being of good behaviour and by making efforts to acquire intellectual and moral development.”

Also speaking, Most Rev. Martin Uzoukwu, Bishop of Minna, also charged the students to abide by the school rules.

Uzoukwu said that following the oath ceremony, that it would be termed as disobedience to go contrary to it after being fully received into the system.

He said: “The expectation of the school is that you stick strictly to the rules and regulations as no act of disobedience of any kind will be accepted.

“We are here to groom you to become responsible citizens of this country,” he said.

Of those enrolled, 494 were admitted through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), six through Direct Entry and 76 through transfer from other Universities from home and abroad.

The event was attended by Deans of Colleges, Heads of Departments in the school as well parents and guardians of the students.
