Greece To Partner Nigeria On Fish Production



The University of Patras in collaboration with the Region of Western Greece has sought to partner with Nigeria on fish production and other agri-food sectors.

A Professor of Agricultural School, George Salasas, who disclosed in a Greek Newspaper underlined that in Western Greece the primary sector, fisheries and aquaculture sector are of importance, as it has been demonstrated in practice with the Agri-food Partnership.

He stressed the benefits that the region can enjoy with the implementation of the programme by both countries.

“With the help of the Region of Western Greece, the University of Patras and the companies, we look forward to a broad partnership with the Republic of Nigeria, with the implementation of know-how transfer and innovation programs, starting with fishing and all agri-food sectors,” Salahas said..

Continuing, Theo Man chairman Giorgos Theodorou said that the aim is not to limit the contribution to 100 boats, but also to create specialists for fishing and the promotion of catches.

He also welcomed the CEO of Concept Amadeus Limited, Prince Patrick Osobase, who said that with the programme tens of thousands of new jobs will be created in the country particularly in the Niger Delta

The meeting was also attended by the president of the Regional Council, George Aggelopoulos, the professors of the Department of Animal Production, Fisheries and Aquaculture of the University of Patras, Giorgos Katselis and Giannis Kladas, representatives of the Greek companies and members of the Nigerian mission.
