Ambode Shuns Sanwo-Olu’s Inauguration

Published

Former governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, departed from tradition as he was conspicuously absent from the inauguration of his successor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which held at the Tarawa Balewa Square, TBS in Lagos yesterday.

It has been the tradition since the commencement of the present democratic dispensation for outgoing governors in the state to be at the inauguration of their successors.

Ambode, who had earlier on Tuesday, May 28, handed over to Sanwo-Olu at the Government House, said at the handing over that his tenancy had expired in the Government House and called for support for governor Sanwo-Olu.

His name and picture and that of his deputy, Dr Oluranti Adebule had appeared in the programme of event, an indication that he was expected at the event.

Recall that former Governor Babatunde Fashola was at Ambode’s inauguration on May 29, 2015 at the same venue.

However, Dr Adebule was present at yesterday’s event.

Also in attendance were: the Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa; wife of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; local government chairmen, members of the state House of Assembly and National Assembly from the state, among others.
