I’m Confident PMB Will Deliver On Security – IBB



Former military president, Gen Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has expressed  confidence  in  the ability of  President Muhammadu Buhari  to  surmount the security challenges facing the country as he promised in his second term.

Asked about his expectations from President Buhari in the second term   by journalists yesterday  during a Sallah  visit by the deputy governor of Niger State, Ahmed Mohammed Ketso, the former Nigerian leader  said he was hopeful that the President  would fulfil his promise of providing adequate security to Nigerians.

The former President who usually receives the governor or deputy governor of the state after the two Rakat prayers at Minna Eid Praying Ground,  stated  at  his hill top residence that  Nigerians must  support the President to surmount the security challenges.

IBB  said that what is required now is for Nigerians to rally round the President to succeed in the task ahead because the President needed the support of all Nigerians to succeed.

According to him,  Nigerians  must  remain peaceful  and pray for peace to reign in the country.  He also used the occasion to pray for peace to reign in the country.

General Babangida reminded Nigerians  that peace is the prerequisite  for any meaningful development and therefore admonished all Nigerians  to eschew bitterness.

Meanwhile the Sallah ( Eid-el Fitri ) celebration was peaceful in Niger State. In Minna, the Chief Imam Sheik Ibrahim Isah Faei led the two Rakat prayers attended by the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago,  while in Bida,  the Chief Imam, Adamu Yakatu led the prayers attended  by the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar.

Niger State deputy governor, who represented Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, at the two Rakat prayers in Minna said the government will continue to initiate policies and programmes that are geared towards enhancing and protecting the lives and properties of its people.

He therefore implored the people of the state to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement   to relevant authorities for prompt action even as he urged them to continue to pray for peace and stability of the state and Nigeria.

He urged Muslims to keep to the Islamic injunctions and lessons of fasting beyond the period of Ramadan to achieve the desired peace.
