FCC To Audit Nominal Rolls Of MDAs

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) is set to commence the auditing of the nominal rolls of Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure that they comply with the federal character principles as enshrined in the Constitution.

The executive chairman of the commission, Dr Muheeba Dankaba Npom, disclosed this during a press briefing by the newly inaugurated board of commission yesterday in in Abuja.

Npom said, “The emergence of the federal character principle as enshrined in the constitution is to bring together our diversity to achieve national unity and cohesion. Over time and quite sad is the sustenance of suspicion amongst our people which invariably breed discord and disharmony.

“Efforts over the years to douse this tension have not met the desired result and that is why we are here to change the narratives and make this Commission the fulcrum for the promotion and convergence of our multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-lingual society.

“The Commission shall not hesitate to impose disciplinary measures on any erring staff/ agency. It shall not be business as usual. We all must strive to live above board. All government ministries, departments and agencies must ensure adherence to the principle of federal character.

“To this extent, the Commission shall soon embark on audit of the nominal rolls of all government Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) with a view to enforcing the principle of federal character without sacrificing merit,” she said.
