The All Progressives Congress (APC), Benue chapter has described the statement by the chief press secretary, Terver Akase, refuting that Governor Samuel Ortom has no plan to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a kite to gauge public opinion regarding the governor’s next line of action.
According to the Akase, the clarification became necessary owing to a recent statement credited to the Benue State chairman of APC, Comrade Abba Yaro, in which he insinuated that the governor will soon be returning to the party.
“It is pertinent to state categorically that Governor Ortom is not contemplating leaving PDP for whatever reason”.
“The governor believes that the political, economic and security challenges currently facing the country cannot merely be solved by people decamping from one political party to another, but what is most important is for Nigerians of all walks of life to join hands and surmount the challenges confronting the nation”.
“Governor Ortom is comfortably leading the PDP in Benue State to achieve developmental milestones for the people and he will remain focused on the mandate of providing good governance to all parts of the state”.
But in a swift reaction, the APC spokesperson, James Ornguga said the CPS has mischievously quoted the State chairman of APC, Comr. Abba Yaro as announcing Governor Ortom’s return to the broom party.
“Much as it is safe to ignore the statement and rather watch as the Ortom media handlers are known overtime for anticlockwise statements which oftentimes, negate the actual actions of their boss, it is important to straighten the facts, touching on the quotes foisted on the APC State Chairman.”
