Armed bandits have again sacked some communities in Katsina State, despite the ongoing military operations to restore peace in the state.
Information gathered by our correspondent, revealed that the bandits invaded Dutsin-ma, Safana and Danmusa local government areas of Katsina State yesterday with sporadic gunshots forcing the residents of the areas to flee.
About 200 women and children are now dislodged from the villages and are stranded at Turare village along Dusinma-Katsina road as at yesterday.
Most of them were carrying mats and other household items, as they flee their villages to safer places, while those that could afford transport fares joined public transport to leave the place. Many were seen trekking for over 30 kilometres from Turare to Dutsin-ma.
Meanwhile, some youths in the affected villages blocked the busy Dutsin-ma Kankara road setting burn fire to obstruct vehicular movement. But some security agencies comprising the Police and Army were seen observing the situation to prevent any break down of law and order.
However, the state police command is yet to confirm the development as at the time of filling this report.
