The Lagos State government has direct-
ed Junior Secondary School Three (JSS3) students who are registered for the Na- tional Examination Council (NECO), Ba- sic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to resume from Monday, August 10, 2020.
This is sequel to an earlier pronounce- ment by the state government directing Senior Secondary School Three (SSS3) and Technical Studies Three (TEC3) students in the state to resume on Monday, August 3, 2020 to enable them revise and sit for their forthcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASS- CE) and National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).
The state’s commissioner for Edu- cation, Folasade Adefisayo, made this disclosure in her office at the Secretar- iat, Alausa, Ikeja, saying, “Only those students who are registered for NECO, BECE which is scheduled to commence on the August 24, 2020, are permitted to resume.”
She noted that other JSS3 students
awaiting to write BECE organised by the Lagos State Examinations Board would soon be informed of the scheduled dates for their examination.
The commissioner stated that ad- ministrators of both public and private schools are expected to ensure full com- pliance with the COVID-19 guidelines for schools reopening in their respective schools as the state government’s officials will be on ground to monitor situations in all schools across the state.
Adefisayo explained that the govern- ment has made appropriate arrangements
to make learning conducive and the con- duct of the examination successful, even as she urged students to be fully prepared for the forthcoming examinations and de- vote more time to their studies.
She also urged students and members of staff to strictly adhere to proper hy- gienic guidelines and ensure the provision of sanitizers, wash hand basin, thermometers and other essential items in pub- lic and private schools across the state, stressing the washing of hands, wearing of face masks and the maintenance of so- cial distancing must be adhered to.
