The Katsina state Board of Internal Revenue has announced tax relief packages as part of palliative measures to mitigate impact of coronavirus pandemic on the people.
Chairman / Chief Executive of the state board, Aminu Abdulmumi, disclosed this in press statement he signed and made available to Leadership yesterday, where he disclosed that Governor Aminu Bello Masari has approved the reduction of taxes and fees that specifically cover economic and agricultural sectors to bring succor to small and medium business due to the effect of Covid-19.
He explained, “The measures cover outstanding tax liability reduced from 100 per cent to 75 per cent interest and penalties with waiver of 50 per cent, while annual returns has 100 per cent amnesty.
“Others are rebate on road taxes with 20 per cent reduction on all charges except new National Plate Number (NNPN), whereas livestock and produce charges have 50 per cent on all official rates.”
The Chairman further added that all palliative measures approved by the Governor will take effect from 1st October, 2020 and shall last as stipulated in the respective measures between December 31st 2020 and 31st October, 2021.
