5,000 PDP Members Join APC In Bayelsa

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Bayelsa State on Friday suffered a setback following the defection of over 5.000 peopleĀ  into the All Progressive Congress (APC)Ā  in NembeĀ  local government area of the state.

The aggrieved PDP members who defected were led by a known grassroots politician Chief Morris Idamikposi Igaki.

According to the defectors,Ā  though they haveĀ  participated in the campaign and election victories of the PDP,Ā  the politics of the PDP in Bayelsa State under Governor Seriake Dickson is oppressive,Ā  dictatorial and selfish.

Chief Igaki, while bspeaking during an open reception organised by the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the Civic Centre in Opu Nembe,said they decided to dump the PDP due to the noticeable lack of intetnal democracy, and possessive oppressive, draconian,satanic and incredibly selfish.

He likened dĀ  the PDP in Bayelsa as Emperors and Oppressors,He said they have come to seek refuge in the APC for progress and development. He pledged the willingness of all decampees to work hard for the success of the APC in the state.

Earlier, the chairman organising committee, Chief Hon. KYPUS Livingston, while welcoming the state party chairman to the occasion, stated that the event was organised to welcome those who have for long been in bondage under the PDP and have decided to leave before it was to late.

While receivingĀ  the decampees the Acting state chairman of the party, Hon Joseph Fafi, said thousands of PDP members are on standby in all the LGA’s to decamp to the APC promising that the train will soon move to Ekeremor local government Council where thousands are waiting.

He described the PDP a house divided against itself with irreconcilable differences saying that as at the last couple there where at least four camps with each camp planning to field candidates for the same elections.

He advised all those with serious Political ambitions to come to the APC as the party is willing to accommodate all those willing to work for the success of the Party in the state assuring that the APC will form the next government in the state.

He thanked the leader of the Party in the state Chief Timipre Sylva, the Nembe LGA leader ChiefĀ  Canthy Isere as well as House of Assembly hopeful and facilitator of the occasion, Hon Gamage Difurotuogu for their contributions towards ensuring the success of the ceremony.

In his closing remarks Hon Gamage Difurotougu stated that his love for the APC spurred has to embark on this project. He expressed his joy that his efforts and that of others have paid off with the massive defection beingĀ  witnessed promising to do more.
