Renowned Nigerian-American Professor, Jacob K. Olupona, has been elected into thr American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Olupona, a Professor of African Religious Traditions at the Harvard Divinity School, is among the new excellent individuals elected to the Academy in 2023.

He was announced by Academy President, David W. Oxtoby, and Chair of the Board of Directors, Nancy C. Andrews.

Professor Olupona has won several awards including the 2018 Martin E. Marty Award for the Public Understanding of Religion.

Pioneer members of the Academy include John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, and George Washington, as well as past U.S Presidents like John F. Kennedy.
