Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has approved the appointments no fewer than 149 village heads with a charge to work with the incoming administration of Pastor Umo Eno to maintain the prevailing peace and unity in their domains.

The commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Mr.Frank Archibong, who stood in for the governor, handed out the certificates of recognition to the respective paramount rulers at the Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council Chambers in Uyo for onward transmission to the 149 beneficiaries in their domains.

Issuing the certificates, the commissioner, while congratulating the village heads on their recognition, commended them for their patience, saying the exercise was in fulfillment of the promise made by Governor  Emmanuel.

He thanked the royal fathers for keeping faith with the outgoing administration, saying the current administration placed high premium on the welfare of royal fathers in the state for sustainable peace and development.

The chairman, Akwa Ibom Traditional Rulers Council, Ntenyin Solomon Etuk, applauded Governor Emmanuel for keeping  his promise on the issuance of certificates of recognition to the village heads.

He said the traditional institution in the state had enjoyed cordial relationship with Governor Emmanuel’s government, noting that this had trickled down to the wellbeing of the royal fathers.
