Some of the casts and crew of the action drama series, LAHIRA that is being aired on DSTV Africa Magic channel have shared their experiences and the essence of the project.

The series which mirrors the nation’s

war against insurgency, is about the trials a young, brave, intelligent girl, Lahira faced after insurgents took over her village. She managed to escape and make it into an IDP camp, the same terrorists assailed the camp and abducted Lahira. She will have to run and try to save other girls as she does so. But will she ever make it out alive?

The action series directed by Peter Fada and produced by Justice Atigogo, has Miracle Inyanda as LAHIRA, Alfred Atungu as HAMZA BIN SALE, Grace-Charis Bassey Effah as ALICIA KUBANJI, the journalist and Nobert Young as GENERAL

The lead cast, Miracle Inyanda who played the role of Lahira said the project was her biggest so far and commended the director and other casts and crew.

Miss Inyanda said, “When I got the call, it was like a dream come true from the whole process applying and all of that. I didn’t want to be part of it due to some personal reasons. But when I got picked and got the call, I was really excited and I was happy I did so playing Lahira’s role and trying to fit in well, it was not so much like that because I used to live in the North, so I can relate to how they live and things they do. So it was something I could jump into. It wasn’t that easy, but at least I could relate to it.

Speaking further on the role and challenges, she said, “It’s devastating when you find yourself in a terrible state as a young girl. When you find yourself in situations that can be so devastating, you can shut down and decide to just succumb to this situation. But then LAHIRA showed courage just like the Chibok girls and kept pushing even amidst daunting challenges.”

The movie director, Peter Fada said LAHIRA was big project and thanked Multichoice for the support. He said, “Lahira is a very unique piece, and for this kind of project, giving a creative direction is not an easy task. We are making a series and then were shooting as if were making cinema. It wasn’t an easy task, okay. Because we wanted to achieve the kind of pictures you have in cinema using the time budget for series”.

Veteran actor, Nobert Young said the project highlighted the work the Nigerian military was putting into the battle against insurgency.

He pointed out, “Because some of us are far away from theater of action, we think it’s a joke. But you see, if the insurgency that is happening in Nigeria does not affect you physically, it affects you economically or psychologically.

“In warfare, when propaganda spreads that the enemy is winning, people fall into despair. And when people begin to manage information without proper dissemination, there’s always trauma.

“Everybody feels the trauma. So whether the insurgency is in the northeast, northwest, south, in the delta, or whatever, it affects everybody in that geographical expression, because if they feel economically, you feel it psychologically, or you feel it one way or the other. So I have always been in this mood that I pray all the time for this insurgent to end.”
