Tech Herfrica Partners Alf To Conduct Financial Literacy Training In Indigenous Languages

A leading non-profit digital organisation, Tech Herfrica, has stressed the need to upscale financial knowledge and skills for individuals to benefit from the fast growing digital economy.

The organisation is also at the forefront in championing digital inclusion for women farmers and traders in rural communities.

It has embarked on digital financial literacy programmes using indigenous languages to foster understanding and adoption and carrying out training in Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa and pidgin English.

Tech Herfrica  has also partnered with key organisations such as the African Leadership Foundation, Faslearn Africa, Justan Edutech Solutions and Digital Financial Literacy consultants to ensure that programmes are designed to meet the peculiarities of each target population based on the needs assessment report.

Participants are educated on the need to access micro pension and health insurance plans so that they can be live financially stable and healthy lives even at old age.

With respect to its partnership with African Leadership Foundation (AlF), Tech Herfrica conducted the pilot training South-West training in Okeho Town in Kajola local government area of Oyo State.

In addition to conducting digital financial literacy programmes, Tech Herfrica incorporates eligible beneficiaries into the digital economy through its e-commerce initiative, Her Local Market.

Her Local Market is an e-commerce platform that connects women in rural and underserved communities in Africa to domestic and international buyers.

The goal is to create an inclusive ecosystem where female farmers and traders can sell more of their products at the right prices, leading to more income, reduced poverty, food security, reduced food waste, and social inclusion.

Sellers are trained and equipped with smart devices to carry out e-commerce, while Tech Herfica’s team carries out the marketing of the products, fosters delivery, manages the web application, and serves as the bridge for quality assurance and issue resolution between sellers and buyers. Pending the launch of its e-commerce initiative, millions of naira have been facilitated in sales.

Speaking to the founder, Imade Bibowei-Osuobeni,  stated that the goal is to ensure that rural women are enabled to prosper in the digital economy.

She further mentioned that so far Tech Herfrica said it has trained over 500 women in Oyo and Enugu States, as well as in Mpape and Gishiri Communities in the Federal Capital Territory.
