Tiv Youth Organization (TYO), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter, has appealed to the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to, upon his inauguration, return all Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Benue State back to their ancestral homes.

This is just as they called on the president-elect to put the interest of the Tiv nation, and her people at heart.

The new president of the group, Chief Joseph Saater Undu, made this appeal yesterday during his acceptance speech as the incoming president of the group.

Undu said that our brothers and sisters, mothers and fathers are languishing in various IDPs across the country, including Benue, Taraba, Nasarawa, among other states, adding that it is possible they can go back to their ancestral homes if the government is willing to act without bias.

“It is on record that our people voted massively for him, and now it is the time for him to reciprocate the kind gesture by accommodating us well in his government.

“We are not asking for too much, we are asking that the office of the Secretary to the Federal Government (SFG) be given to us as a compensation for our massive votes, and many years of neglect at the Federal Government level, considering the fact that we are the Fourth most populated ethnic group in Nigeria. We have well qualified technocrats and seasoned political leaders who will fit into this office.

“We, also, congratulate the Benue state Governor-elect, Rev. Father Hycent Iormem Alia. Our advice to him is that he should always heed wise counsel, and shun divisive tendencies in the discharge of his responsibility. We appeal to him not to be vindictive, as this may derail his focus from delivering dividends of democracy to the good people of Benue who voted him enmass to deliver them from the shackles of poverty.

“He should, as a matter of fact, leave all issues relating to probe and investigation of previous administrations in the hands of security and other anti graft angencies if need be,” he said.

TYO is an apex socio-cultrural organisation of the Tiv Youths, incorporated with the corporate affairs Commission on the 9th June, 1988 with the mandate to coordinate the activities, way of life and the general well being of the Tiv youths across the globe.

Meanwhile, the President General, Tiv Youth Organization (TYO) Worldwide, Comr Andy Aondongu Anzah in his congratulatory message to the new exco of the Abuja chapter, stated that warmly embrace the newly elected EXCO with the view to holistically partner in order to deliver our people from the shackles that are undermining we the youths of Tiv extraction and indeed, the rest of Tiv nation.
