Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello has expressed gladness over willingness of the federal government to reconstruct Tegina-Kontagora Road in the state.

Governor Bello expressed his joy when he received the executive members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kontagora led by the chairman, Alhaji Adamu Umaru Kawo on a congratulatory visit, at the Government House, Minna.

Belo who was in company of the state’s Governor-elect, Umar Mohammed Bago, said he was excited about the award of the contract from Tegina to Kontagora.

He however, expressed displeasure over the delay by the contractor in mobilizing to site for the Minna to Tegina reconstruction work that had earlier been awarded.

“I am glad about this because going to Kontagora from Minna takes about four hours, I am aware the Federal Government has already awarded from Minna to Tegina and now they are awarding from Tegina to Kontagora.

“Unfortunately, the contractor for Minna to Tegina has not resumed site and the rain is fast coming; it may slow down the movement of goods and service,” he said.

He said the contract, when completed, will reduce accidents and unnecessary delays on the road as well as ease the movement of goods and services, noting that most trucks coming from Lagos to the Northern part of the country pass through the road.

The governor appreciated his visitors, assuring them of good representation at the National Assembly.

On his part, Bago assured the APC executive from Kontagora that his administration will complete all the laudable projects initiated by the present government.

Bago, who commended the present administration for working tirelessly to get the attention of the Federal Government on the reconstruction of the Tegina-Kontagora Road, said that he will join in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Tegina-Kontagora Road by next week.

He also appreciated the people of the local government for standing by him and the Party to ensure he came out victorious in the last general election.

The APC chairman, Kontagora, Alhaji Adamu Umaru Kawo explained that they were in Minna to congratulate the Governor for emerging victorious at the poll as the senator to represent Niger North in the red chambers of the National Assembly and also to congratulate the governor-elect.
