A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Edo Central Senatorial District, Prince Emmanuel Odigie, has taken a swipe at Elder Charles Idahosa of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over his comment on zoning the 2024 Edo State governorship seat.

Odigie, who said he would not like to join issues with the PDP chieftain given the respect he has for him as an elder, cautioned however, that the former commissioner needs to refrain from making such statements as they are capable of heating up the polity and sow a seed of discord in the state.

Odigie advised that it is only just, fair and in the spirit of equity and fairness for the people of Edo Central to demand that the 2024 governorship seat be zoned to them.

“Edo State has been a haven of relative peace because all parts of the state have a sense of belonging. Any attempt to distort this by not zoning the governorship to Edo central is tantamount to telling the people of Edo Central that they are not stakeholders in the progress and development of the state. It will be politically suicidal for any personality or political movement to, covertly or overtly, espouse such ideas,” he warned.

While expressing confidence in the ability of leadership of the various political parties in the state to do what is right and just in the sight of God and man, Odigie cautioned politicians in the state never to forget that Edo electorates will always insist on fairness, equity and justice while casting their ballot as demonstrated in the just concluded presidential election. He added that they will do the same come 2024 because they believe that the Edo Agenda for fairness, equity and justice for all is irreversible.
