The federal commissioner representing Niger State in the National Population Commission (NPC) Muhammad Dattijo Usman said that based on the key milestone needed for a successful census the commission has performed above average and that the exercise will be digitalised and transformative.
He told a press conference in Minna yesterday that the postponement of the exercise was not due to lack of preparations on the part of the commission.
Usman said, “ You will agree with our consistent position that it had nothing to do with the commission’s unpreparedness as the naysayers would have us believe, on the contrary and to the satisfaction of the government, the commission has performed above average going by its key milestones.”
He said the commission is ready for the census exercise which will be completely digitalised and the first of its kind in the country.
Usman said the questionnaire does not contain religion and ethnicity but basically all demographic socioeconomic characteristics will be captured.
