The Rivers State government has begun programmes for the inauguration of the governor-elect, Siminalaye Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Ordu, on May 29, 2023.

Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, the state commissioner for information and communications, Senibo Chris Finebone, said the inauguration commenced with the commissioning of projects in communities in Obio/Akpor and Emohua local government areas of the state.

Finebone stated that the events lined up for the inauguration will come to an end on Monday, June 5, 2023, with the proclamation of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly.

He said, “These events will kick-off today with the commissioning of Rumuesara internal roads and Akpabu-Odido link roads. Subsequent days will feature more flag-offs and commissioning.

“Governor Wike believes that working so hard and ending his administration strong, will provide the incoming Fubara administration the needed momentum to  excel from the beginning and continue strong.

“The governor Wike administration will now out on May 29, 2023 and will be providing the incoming administration the advantage of having a well-articulated handover; something the outgoing administration did not benefit from the administration it succeeded on May 29, 2015.

“Therefore, the ground is being prepared for the Fubara administration to have a seamless takeoff from Day One.”
