Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has said he has no regrets doing whatever he did as governor in the last eight years and is proud to stand tall wherever.
This is as he enjoined people of the state to avoid insulting and falsifying information against political leaders, especially governors, but rather pray and support them to succeed.
Ortom who spoke during the inauguration of the 3.5 kilometer Uganden Akaazua road in Vandeikya local government area of the state said the insults and lies against governors should end with him.
“I encourage all my supporters to avoid anything that will cause chaos or create enmity or cause crisis to forestall development in the state. You should be law abiding for the overall benefits of the state, and I want to say here that as for me, I will not insult my successor. If he seeks my counsel, I will make myself available for anything that will add value to the state.
“I owe Benue people so much gratitude for what they did for me, so for those who think because I did not win my senate bid and I am angry, I have no need to be angry with anyone, so for me and my family, we have put what has happened behind us because the Benue is bigger than us.
Paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, Prof. James Ayatse, who commended Governor Ortom for his support and recognition of the traditional institution, said; “You are out of politics today to enable you rest and come back with great ideas.”
