Gunmen Kill 6 In Benue Community

Six people have been reportedly killed by suspected herdsmen at Akpete community in Apa local government area of Benue State.

A native in the area who identified himself as Inalegwu explained that the suspected herders invaded the community Saturday night and launched attack as well as raped some women during the attack.

When LEADERSHIP contacted the national chairman of Apa Development Association, Eche Akpoko on the phone yesterday he confirmed that six people were killed in the invasion.

According to him, “It’s a continuous attack as I told you people during a press conference recently. It’s a very sad development.

“Yesterday being Saturday, the armed herders attacked Akpete  at about 6pm. By this morning, the number of casualties stand at six but we are not definite about the number yet as they keep discovering corpses from corners and bushes.

“As of this morning, the report, we got was that they have discovered six corpses.”

  When contacted the police public relations officer (PPRO) Catherine Anene, said she was yet to receive the report.
