The team won a total of nine medals comprising two gold, three silver and four bronze to finish first on the medal table of the three days event held at the Package ‘B’ of Moshood Abiola National stadium, Abuja

The keenly contested championship had athletes competing in kyroigi, poomsae and para with Team Edo and Team Oyo finishing second and third respectively behind Bayelsa on the medal standing.

Team Bayelsa head coach, Judith Willaim, described the team success as a plus to her career. “Words can’t express how I feel but I must first thank God for the success we recorded here even though this is my first outing as the head coach of Bayelsa State Taekwondo Team.

“I specially thank our director of sports for the support given to us and also commended president of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation for creating this kind of championship for athletes to showcase their skills,” Coach Judith said.
