Niger Releases 5-day Programmes For Governor-elect Inauguration

At last Niger State government has released a five-day programme of events for the inauguration of the governor-elect of the state, Hon Umar Mohammed Bago and his deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, for their first term in office.

The secretary to the state government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, who released the programme yesterday said that the 5-day events will be held from May 24th to May 29th, 2023 with the exception of May 27th which is the Children’s Day.

Ahmed Matane explained that the inauguration programme will commence with a valedictory State Executive Council (SEC) meeting today.

He said it would be followed tomorrow by the inaugural lecture by 10:00am and handover of transition documents by 2:00pm at Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre, Minna and Council Chamber, Government House, Minna respectively.

Matane said a special Juma’at Prayers will be held at the Central Mosque, Minna on Friday while a special church service would take place on Sunday at the ECWA Goodnews Church, behind Kure Market, Minna.

He said there would be a Special Polo Tournament at the Minna Polo Ground and Pre-inauguration Dinner.

The SSG said the inauguration parade and swearing-in ceremony of the new governor will take place at the International Trade Fair Complex, for the first time instead of the usual stadium.
