Kaduna Electric has begun replacement and upgrade of energy meters with its commercial and industrial as well as applicable residential Maximum Demand customer class across its Franchise Area.

The exercise is in furtherance of a recertification exercise and is in aid of enhanced energy accounting, in the mutual interests of Kaduna Electric and its esteemed customers.

In a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Communication, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, Kaduna Electric said the exercise became imperative as to enhance the quality of the metering equipment and related losses due to tampering and obsolescence.

The statement further said the exercise which is starting with MD customer class is being run alongside non-MD meters particularly those that have been in use for over 10 years across Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States.

It said the recertification exercise is to ensure all meters are operating at optimal level and have passed relevant tests by the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA) while the replacement exercise is aimed at phasing out all meters that have outlived their shelf life.

Kaduna Electric urged all maximum demand customers who will be affected by the twin exercise to cooperate with the company’s officials who shall be visiting their premises for the recertification and replacement exercise.
