Oyo State House of Assembly and  11 councillors have sacked both the vice chairman of Iseyin local government area and political head of Iseyin South local council development area (LCDA), Ajibola Raheem Fasasi and the executive chairman in Kajola local government area of the state, Alhaji Afolabi Adebayo Salimonu, over alleged corruption.

The House also ordered the suspended Iseyin vice chairman to step aside with immediate effect to give room for investigations.

Fasasi was accused of illegally dismantling and selling off government properties.

A seven-man committee comprising councillors in the area set up to investigate the allegations levelled against Fasasi had recommended his suspension to the state House of Assembly in its report.

The lawmakers, who deliberated on the petition and recommendations, saidt there was need for accountability at the local government administration to maintain integrity and transparency.

They also said it was important for the embattled vice chairman to step aside immediately to avoid obstructing the investigation by the House.

The Speaker,  Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, in his remarks before approving the suspension, ordered Fasisi to step aside with immediate effect to allow the concerned committee carry out a comprehensive investigation on all allegations levelled against him.

In the same vein, the 11  councillors in Kajola local government area of Oyo State, have sacked the executive chairman, Alhaji Afolabi Adebayo Salimonu (Borikansuwon) over alleged misappropriation of funds.

The decision to suspend the council chairman indefinitely was taken during a sitting of the House held at the legislative chamber of the council secretariat in Okeho.
