Afrocentric queen, Folashade Aboderin, aka Shady Blue has released a new album titled My Way.
The 13 track album is a blend of Soul, RnB, Jazz that lends a timeless and enjoyable feel to her Afro
sound.
The album also comes several years since her last one in 2009 and 21 singles releases. She is
optimistic the album will thrill her audience once more.
“My new album is unique. I wear the pride of my origins on my sleeves. I make sure to remind my
listeners and the community of my Nigerian heritage,” said the British Nigerian.
“The album opens with a very distinctive style that evokes her African roots within the instruments
in the song Stand By, emphasizes her strive and enthusiasm in the lyrics of Better Without You and
My Way. Meanwhile, the notion of Ise logun ise, meaning hardwork is the antidote to poverty and
lack, is felt throughout the album,” she added.
Throughout a musical career spanning decades interspersed with the artiste’s involvement in other
field of work, Shady Blue keeps her work relatable. This she does with in the song Sokagbo which
hints at her humble beginnings and life values.
