The president of South East Media Professionals Group (SEMPG), Emenike Iroegbu has appealed to individuals, groups and the media to stop causing confusion among leaders of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
Iroegbu in a statement he made available to LEADERSHIP in Umuahia, the Abia State capital yesterday, made the remarks over claim by some individuals to the leadership position of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation.
He said the leader of the organisation recognised by both Ndigbo and the federal government is chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, adding that any other claimant to the seat is an impersonator.
“It in deed baffles SEMPG,” he noted “why some media houses will keep on taming and encouraging such impersonators when they know the true leadership of the organization.
“This penchant of some media houses giving voice to such impersonators seems to be a calculated plan by some persons or forces to ensure the voice of Ndibo is subdued and destroyed,” he stated.
Describing the development as a ploy by the masterminds to weaken both Iwuanyanwu and the organisation, he said the group would sanction any member involved in abetting the confusion no matter whose ox is gored.
Iroegbu said “we’re also appealing to media practitioners and media houses in the South East geopolitical zone to stop recognising individuals or groups that do not represent and project the interest of Ndigbo.”
