Aribasoye Emerges Speaker Of Ekiti Assembly

Seventh Ekiti State House of Assembly has been inaugurated with the lawmaker representing Ikole Constituency 2, Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, elected speaker.

The daughter of the late former deputy governor of the state, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi and the lawmaker representing Ado Constituency 2 Hon. Bolaji Adediwura Olagbaju from Ado emerged the deputy speaker.

The he new Assembly was inaugurated through a proclamation letter forwarded by  Governor Biodun Oyebanji and read by the clerk, Mr. Tola Esan, after which the new legislators took their oath of office.

The new speaker (Aribasoye) served as the chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs in the sixth Assembly while Hon. Egbeyemi-Olagbaju served as senior special assistant to the immediate past governor of the state.

A re-elected member representing Irepodun/Ifelodun Constituency 1, Hon. Femi Akindele  nominated  Aribasoye for the position and was seconded by the re-elected member representing Ekiti East Constituency 2, Hon. Lateef Akanle.

The motion nominating Egbeyemi-Olagbaju for deputy speaker was moved by the re-elected member representing Gbonyin Constituency, Hon. Adeteju Okuyiga and  seconded by the re-elected member representing Ido/Osi Constituency 1, Hon. Abiodun Fawekun.

In his acceptance speech, Aribasoyesaid all actions of the  Assembly would be in the  interest of the people and urged the support of all stakeholders to achieve success in their stewardship.

He pledged that the legislature would work with the two other arms of government-the executive and the judiciary-to work in harmony for the prosperity of Ekiti State and promote the state’s economic development by enacting laws that would enhance job creation and better the standard of living of the people.

 

Aribasoye said the legislature would work with Governor  Oyebanji to achieve his vision for the development of the state and keep Ekiti working towards the Shared Prosperity agenda encapsulated in his Six Pillars for Ekiti Development.
