Ahead of National Assembly election,June 13, the Director General of Alliance for Politically affiliated Group (APAG), Yusuf Musa has endorsed Former Zamafara state Governor, Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari as most credible person for the Senate President.

Addressing journalists at the conference of civil societies in Abuja, Yusuf charge the leadership of National Assembly to conduct free and fair election.

He said that the 10th Assembly must be allowed to express their fundamental rights by deciding a new leader without any form of imposition or federal influence.

He said the election should be devoid of any form of intimidation and external interference. Yusuf maintained that their decision on the choice of Yari was taken after critical review into the portfolios of Candidates in the 10th Senate Leadership tussle.

Speaking further, Yusuf expressed worries on how Sen Akpabio emerges as a consensus candidate. He stressed that the process through which he was endorsed was undemocratic. However, all Senators have the constitutional rights to decide their President. It is undemocratic for a few individuals or groups to impose the leadership of the 10th Assembly.

The Alliance for Politically Affiliated Groups was strongly behind the victory of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the recently concluded 2023 presidential election.

The group has over 200political groups affiliated to her from across all the political Parties in the country. APAG is a detribalised political organization envisioned to promote the growth and development of Nigeria.

Yusuf noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a democratic leader who will not allow any form of undemocratic situation in the 10th Assembly. Also recall Few days ago when Sen. Kawu sumaila cried out some intimidation and alleged plot by unknown political figures to prevent members of the 10th assembly from attending the inauguration on Tuesday 13th June 2023.

APAG however issued a warning to those who are nurturing plans to create any form of undemocratic situation in the country especially ahead of the 10th National Assembly Inauguration. They stressed that any form of destructive activities will create a negative image for the Tinubu administration which is unacceptable especially as a pro people President.

“The Senate President must be an independent political figure who stands for the people and not for a few sponsors. Yari is a leader who is courageous and independent. He is not sponsored by anybody and as such will discharge his legislative responsibilities objectively and in favour of Nigerians.

He says, “the choice of Sen. Abdul’Aziz Yari as most preferred leader of the 10th National Assembly is premised on rational political analysis that must be subjected to a democratic process of voting which must be conducted.”

He maintained that Yari’s outstanding dedication, contribution and commitment towards the growth and development of Nigerian’s democracy is second to none. He says, “APAG is for Yari; Nigerians are for Yari and a majority of the newly elected and relelected Senators are behind Sen. Yari as next Senate President.”
