Katsina State governor, Mallam Dikko  Radda has expressed concern over the ill relationship between personnel of  the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Jibia business community, urging them to harmonize their economic partnership for economic growth in the border area.

At a town hall meeting with the Jibia business community and Nigerian Customs to renew effort in ensuring sustainable peace in the area, the governor tasked the Customs to be more surveillance in the border between the Magamar Jibia- Niger, instead of focusing on Katsina-Jibia road, where the movement of goods is mainly for local consumption.

He however called on the Customs’ authority to investigate the complaint raised by the business community to protect the integrity of the institution, reaffirming further that his support in the fight against illegal smuggling of imported goods to the country is not compromised.

The governor pleaded with traditional rulers, business community as well as security personnel in the area to put hands on deck to ensure peace and harmonious coexistence in Jibia and its environment.

Jibia has been a border town of Nigeria with Niger republic and it experienced series of misunderstanding between the Nigeria Customs and the business community that often resulted in loss of lives while chasing smugglers along the area.
