Managing director and chief executive officer of Coscharis Mobility Ltd and member of the Third Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Christian Chiemezuolam Chigbundu, said there is no success in the world that can compensate one failure to raise a decent home.

Chigbundu stated this at the commencement of the Strengthening Families Conference 2023 organised by the church holding at the International Conference Centre (ICC) Abuja.

Chigbundu who said issues surrounding strengthening families are crucial at a time the world is facing a lot of challenges as a result of broken homes, insisted that a man and a woman’s success should start from the home.

“Strengthening families programme was founded four years ago by the church in collaboration with other organisations to strengthen families and marriages.

“This conference is crucial at this time because the world is faced with crucial challenges on marriages. The cracks know no religion or tribe.

“No success in the world can compensate for failure in a home. Most individuals who engage in social vices come from broken marriages and broken homes.

“A strong family will build a strong community, a strong community will build a strong state, a strong state will build a strong nation, a strong nation will build a strong continent and a strong continent will build a strong world.

“Your highest personally is your spouse, your family, your children and your grandchildren. They are yours forever. Marriage brings better possibility to happiness than anything else. Marriage will bring happiness in the world if nurtured carefully. Marriage is bringing together two uncompleted buildings to be complete buildings,” Chigbundu said, hoping that families would be strengthened at the end of the conference.

“Marriages are cracking because of lack of appreciation. Communication gab can break a marriage. Some prefer social media over communicating with their spouses. No one is perfect but couples must counsel themselves and avoid blames,” Chigbundu said.

Also, the general authority and president of the Africa West Area Presidency, The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints, Elder Gifford Nielsen and Sister Wendy Nielsen, called on political leaders to formulate policies that support marriage, parenthood and family life.

Nielsen said this is necessary because policies that support marriage, parenthood and family life will make it possible for all Africans to reap the benefits of a generation of youths adding that Africa is home to the world’s largest youth population, with about 60 percent of the continent’s people being below 25 years of age.
