The 15th Nupe Day celebration has been scheduled to hold from today, June 23, 2023, with different activities and prayers to mark the event.
The event will kick off today with Jummuat prayers.
A statement by the chairman, Board of Trustees, Nupe Foundation, Maj. Gen. Idris Garba Wazirin Lapai, stated that the event will begin today at 2pm across Nupe communities in Niger, Kwara and Kogi States as well as FCT and other parts of the world.
Activities for the event, according to the statement would also include the Nupe cultural carnival scheduled for Lokoja, Kogi State between Friday 29th September, 2023 and Sunday 1st October 2023
The statement quoted His Royal Highness Alhaji(Dr)Yahaya Abubakar, Etsu Nupe, Chairman, Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers inviting dignitaries to join them in the celebration of this year’s Nupe day celebration which is the 15th in the series.
“As usual this year’s Nupe Day will feature Prayers for peace, stability, progress for the entire Nupe Kingdom and Nigeria.
“Also on the same occasion, Special Prayers for God’s Guidance for the new Administration of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and the 36 State Governors in the Federation will insha Allah take place at the Jummuat prayers on Friday 23rd June, 2023 at 2:00pm across Nupe communities in Niger, Kwara and Kogi States as well as FCT and other parts of the world.
“Similarly, Church services will hold across Nupe communities in Niger, Kwara and Kogi States as well as FCT and other parts of the world on Sunday 25th June 2023 at 10:00 am,” the statement added.
