Kebbi State government through the Ministry of Animals, Husbandry and Fisheries in collaboration with the Federal Department of Veterinary and Pest Control Services (FDVPCS) has concluded arrangement to vaccinate nine million animals and 10 million local chickens against diseases across the 20 local government areas of the state.

The exercise was flagged off at Hutawa Pastoralist Settlement behind Dukku Barracks in the suburb of Birnin Kebbi metropolis.

The exercise which will cover all the communities of the 21 government areas of the state is expected to round-off within one month.

While speaking with journalists in his office in Birnin Kebbi, the ministry’s permanent secretary, Dr Ahmed Umar Ambursa, said the exercise is targeting about nine million animals representing 3 per cent of cows, 3 percent of goats and 3 percent of sheep and another 10 million of local chickens across Kebbi State.

He added that the federal government provided enough vaccines for various animal diseases which will cover the whole exercise.

He noted that his ministry has engaged 100 professional and non-professional ad-hoc doctors for the whole exercise.
