In a rare display of compassion and care, a non-governmental organisation, Global Initiative for Peace Love and Care (GIPLC) has disbursed N100 million in life-changing funds to 15 Nigerian children in need of surgeries both within and outside the country.
The event took place yesterday in Abuja, where each beneficiary received between N1.5 million and N23 million.
Over the course of this year alone, more than N400 million has been allocated to treating various ailments, reaffirming the organization’s dedication to addressing critical medical issues faced by children in Nigeria.
The remarkable sum of N100 million ($160,000) was raised during a memorable birthday/charity dinner in honour of the founder of Dickens Sanomi Foundation and grand patron of GIPLC, Igho Charles Sanomi, held in Paris, France.
Sanomi selflessly directed that the funds raised during the event be used for the treatment of Nigerian children facing diverse medical challenges.
The birthday/charity dinner, which took place on May 20th, 2023, drew attendees who were deeply moved by Sanomi’s decision to channel the proceeds toward the care of ailing children. The event highlighted the incredible power of compassion and unity in transforming lives. Among the distinguished guests were beneficiaries of GIPLC’s Touching Lives Everyday Projects across Nigeria.
During the cheque presentation ceremony, the DG/national coordinator of GIPLC, Nuhu Kwajafa, reiterated that the government alone cannot fully address the issue of expensive healthcare financing. He emphasized the importance of collective support for the less privileged, stressing the need to save more lives.
Kwajafa remarked, “Life is worth living when you have good health. Let’s strive for continuous improvement every day. That’s the fulfilling impact we can make.” He further expressed GIPLC’s commitment to promoting sustainable and participatory community charity projects that uplift vulnerable children and widows in Nigeria, affirming that the organization will continue to expand its efforts. “Today, we allocate N100 million, but next time, it will be N500 million.”
Previous beneficiaries of GIPLC’s interventions took turns to testify to the organization’s profound impact on their lives and the lives of their children or wards. Mrs. Chidinma Nnaji, the mother of an 11-year-old beneficiary, expressed her gratitude, saying, “I didn’t know him from anywhere, but he took me and my sick daughter with multiple holes in the heart to India for treatment. He covered all expenses, including visa costs, flight tickets, and the necessary medical procedures in India. He even provided the medications required after the operation in India. I am truly grateful to Nuhu and his entire team. May God bless and preserve you.”
Many beneficiaries, including conjoined twins who were successfully separated through a surgery funded by GIPLC, showered the organization with praise. Father of the separated twins, Fedinard Buzugbe, described GIPLC’s intervention as nothing short of miraculous, as it restored hope in his life.
He stated, “When GIPLC arrived, a glimmer of light emerged. They gave me hope and encouraged me to be courageous. They provided all the necessary funds to separate the twins. Today, they have given hope to my children.
“We want to say a massive thank you to the founder of Dickens Sanomi Foundation, Mr. Igho Charles Sanomi and the chief of staff to the president, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila who has been very supportive.
“I believe with the new government in place and him, we will be able to save more lives again because life is not worth living if we can’t help those in need. Let’s do better every day. That is the most fulfilling impact you can have in life.
“I will share another story with you why I can’t stop what I’m doing. In 2013/14, I escaped death 11 times within two years.
“I was kidnapped by herdsmen and what saved me and my crew was one of the boys was wearing our customised polo. He was one of our benefactors seven month before that day and he was our saving grace.
“For me, in this world, there’s nothing more than God’s protection. It’s bigger than money because money comes and it fades. I want to thank everybody here today and all the recipients that today it’s N100 million, tomorrow it will be N500 million.” he said.
