The HealthCare Federation of Nigeria has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PharmAccess to strengthen the health system towards better quality care in Nigeria.
The signing ceremony, which took place on Monday, July 24, at the Capital Club in Victoria Island, Lagos, marked a pivotal event that promises to redefine the future of healthcare accessibility and quality in the nation.
Under the resolute commitment to fostering equitable distribution of efficient healthcare services, the primary aim of this strategic collaboration is to enhance access to quality and affordable healthcare, ensuring financial protection for all Nigerians.
By leveraging PharmAccess’s SafeCare program, the collaboration seeks to raise the standards of healthcare facilities across the nation, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring that patients receive the highest quality care possible.
Simultaneously, through the Medical Credit Fund of PharmAccess, the partnership will work towards bridging the access to finance gap that often obstructs health SMEs from accessing funds to improve the quality and scope of healthcare services. The expectation is that through HFN or its private sector members, quality can be institutionalized by licensing of the SafeCare methodology or white labeling of the standards.
Dr. Pamela Ajayi, President of the HealthCare Federation of Nigeria, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “This monumental collaboration represents an extraordinary opportunity for us to create a healthcare system that truly serves the needs of all Nigerians. Together with PharmAccess, we are committed to propelling equitable and accessible healthcare, leaving a lasting impact on the Nigerian Health Sector.”
Njide Ndili, Country Director of PharmAccess and Vice President of the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria, echoed these sentiments, stating, “PharmAccess is thrilled to formalize its partnership with the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria. Our commitment to advancing the healthcare system in Nigeria is evident in our integrated approach and we have been steadfast in our support and contribution especially the inclusion of private sector who provide a significant percentage of the healthcare delivered.
“Our impact stretches far beyond Nigeria, as we seek to promote cross learnings across west Africa as witnessed during the recent Public Private Policy Dialogue in Côte D’Ivoire recently by West Africa Healthcare Federation, a coalition of 9 West African Private Sector Federations. When one examines the shared goals of PharmAccess and HFN, one will find a remarkable alignment in terms of fostering private sector inclusion, elevating healthcare quality, enhancing access to finance, leveraging technology for efficient and transparency while promoting sustainability through government structures and policy”.
Also representing PharmAccess’ Amsterdam office, Head of SafeCare, Aafke de Graaff expressed appreciation for the impressive strides achieved in Nigeria within a brief timeframe. “Witnessing the transformative progress in Nigeria has been truly inspiring. I am driven by the pursuit of excellence in healthcare, and I am resolutely determined to contribute to the realization of positive health outcomes for every patient, leaving an indelible mark on the nation’s healthcare landscape.”
In alignment with the ongoing healthcare reform efforts of the Nigerian Federal Government, this dynamic partnership endeavors to create a more robust healthcare system. By pooling resources, expertise, and innovation, the collaboration seeks to complement the government’s initiatives, fortifying and accelerating the implementation of healthcare reforms, and ultimately uplifting healthcare standards across the nation.
