RICOH Acquires 80% Stake In Fujitsu Scanners

RICOH, a Japanese manufacturing company, has announced that it has bought 80 per cent stake in Fujitsu scanners, hence, the rebranding of the company to RICOH.

The regional sales manager, Middle East, and Africa, Adrian Cafferkey who disclosed this at the IQ-Fujitsu-RICOH forum for product training, standard operator guide, and maintenance of the newly launched 8000 series product in Lagos, averred that, the Nigeria Market for the RICOH (formerly Fujitsu) scanner is about 22 per cent of the market volume for professional document capture scanners in the IT communication and infrastructure sector. 

Cafferkey alluded that with a 36 per cent global share in the scanner industry with 42 per cent shares in the Middle East, RICOH has a brand that has become known for its reliability through the decades of its existence.

He said, the Middle East and Africa is a thriving business regions for the company, hence, the launch of audiovisual (AV) systems. 

“We plan to launch RICOH projectors in Dubai in September 2023 and it, will be available by November in Nigeria. There are ongoing marketing analysis and knowledge transfers sessions which deals with cameras, projectors for conference conveniences,” he stated.

RICOH technical specialist, Gavin Hubbard opined that the software that comes with the RICOH scanner systems is designed so that users would be able to deal with impending cases of error or any defect detected in the scanners with easy procedures on how to correct these errors without much technical know-how. 

In the same vein, the product distributor in Nigeria and West Africa, IQ Express Group, Richard Amaechi Ani, averred that Fujitsu is a well-known brand that has been manufacturing for over 40 years and is well known in the IT communication infrastructure sector. 

He said: “In the Nigeria market, we are creating awareness about the in-country brands. One can pay for the product and collect it the same day. We provide after-sales support and provide maintenance, training, POS, warranties, claims, and covers. We are creating resellers, sub-distributors, and service partners so that anytime and anywhere the Fujitsu RICOH product is purchased, there is someone next door that can fix it, if need be.”
