Members of Ungwa Bulus in Kakura community of Chikun LGA of Kaduna State have raised an alarm over illegal land grabbing and sale of their ancestral land by some unknown members of neighbouring communities.

The Mai Ungwa of Nissi village in Chikun LGA, Gideon Bulus who spoke with journalists in Kaduna on Friday on behalf of the community, said “The situation has become worrisome as some members of the community have constituted themselves into a group terrorising the community. Some people came that they are from Kaduna State Geographical Information Service (KADGIS) without any approval or documents showing they are authentic and are selling off land.

The Sarkin Yaki, Chief Bulus Tukasa said that, “It is strange for unknown persons to come into our ancestral home and unlawfully take our inheritance.”

Tukasa called on the Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani to intervene immediately before the community resorts to self-help that may lead to the breakdown of law and order.

The public relations officer of KADGIS, Helen Kafoi who spoke with our correspondent said there have been several reports of land grabbers not only in the community but the state at large.
