The Forum of Former Members of Abia State House of Assembly has appealed for peace, harmony and unity in the 8th Assembly.

The appeal came against the background of a leadership tussle between the ruling Labour Party (LP) and the majority Peoples Democratic Party since the inauguration of the House in June.

The forum stated this in a joint statement by Leo Onyekwere, Sunday Ugwa, and Ndukwe Ojukwu in Umuahia, the state capital.

The former legislators said both the leadership and members of the House should work together as no meaningful development can be achieved in an atmosphere of chaos.

The forum also congratulated the governor, Alex Otti and his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, on their successful emergence at the poll and inauguration.
