The Lagos State government through the Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) said it is committed to strengthen water facilities for Improved service delivery in the State.
Its managing director/CEO, Engr. Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani, who stated this during his ongoing inspection and assessment of water facilities at South East, Central and North East region of LWC coverage areas, which included Iponri, Surulere, Itire Ikate, Shomolu and Ikeja waterworks, emphasised his unwavering dedication and commitment to ensuring that LWC Waterworks facilities are strengthened for improved service delivery to the State’s residents.
LWC boss was accompanied by LWC executive director, Operations, Engr. Helen Omolanke Taiwo and director, Production, Engr. Agiri Mustapha to various plants/waterworks facilities included Pump houses, Panel rooms, Laboratories, Doping pump stations, Pressure filters, Clarifier, Aeration tanks, Surface storage tanks, Overhead tanks, Transfer pumps, Stores, Boreholes, Distribution and Generator rooms, Administrative offices, among other facilities.
Other notable Staff who took the MD/CEO round the facilities inspection were: Regional Business Manager South East, Mrs. Fapojuwo Foluke, RBM Central, Mr. Aderibigbe Teslim and RBM North East, Mr. Abraham.
Various issues were raised during the inspection tour, particularly, on plants designed capacity, production capacity, and generally facilities efficiency, and so on, to ascertain issues that require urgent attention. Notable challenges associated with the inefficiency of the waterworks mentioned included: Power supply and Borehole issues, Aeration tank and Generator problems, among others,
Earlier, Engr. Tijani has inspected facilities at the major waterworks of Iju, 70MGD Adiyan and on-going 70MGD Adiyan phase II, Akute Intakes. Other areas visited include: Agege, Isheri-Oke, Badore, Lekki, Dolphin, Victoria Island Annex, Saka Tinubu, Alexander, and Ikoyi Waterworks to determine the capacity and efficiency of the various plants.
