Governor Dauda Lawal, on Thursday, received medical equipment and hospital-related items worth over N100 million, donated to Zamfara State Government by a medical firm.

The donation was presented to the Governor at the State Council Chamber, Gusau, by the Managing Director of Minjirya Health Services Limited, Alhaji Mustapha Falaki.

The medical firm said that the equipment and hospital-related items were donated to the State Government to improve healthcare services.

In a statement Friday morning, Spokesperson to the Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, stressed that the medical equipment donated were very essential in line with the Lawal administration’s commitment to overhaul the health system in the State.

He said that the firm visited Zamfara from Kano State to present the equipment to the Governor as a gesture to support his positive mission to revive the health sector.

The items donated include suction machines, dental chairs, delivery beds, hot air ovens, diathermy machines, sterilizer machines, an automatic haematology analyzer, major surgical sets, defibrillators, pulse oximeters, ward screens, ultrasound machines, electro cardiology machines and theatre beds, among others.

Addressing the donors, Governor Lawal expressed gratitude to the company, saying that healthcare was a major issue in Zamfara.

He said: “It is part of our campaign promises that we would improve in the aspect of healthcare services delivery. We have been working day and night, seeking help from local and foreign donors for hospital-related items.

“This donation came to me as a surprise, because I was not expecting something this huge for free. All the equipment donated by the Minjirya Health Services Limited are important machines, and among the key items that our hospitals urgently needed.

“I am aware of the request from Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital. Part of their request is to provide them with some of these machines for effective service delivery. We were struggling to source funds to acquire some of the equipment, fortunately, we now got them for free as a donation.

“We would distribute the equipment to Yariman Bakura Specialist. May Allah reward the donors abundantly. Zamfara State Government is grateful for this compassionate act,” the governor stated.

Earlier, the Managing Director of Minjirya Health Services Limited, Alhaji Mustapha Falaki, stated that they were in Zamfara purposely to present a donation of medical equipment and hospital-related materials for the benefit of the people of the State.

“We are making this donation bearing in mind the good intention of the present Administration of Governor Dauda Lawal to elevate the health sector. The machines we are donating are quite necessary for the effective operations of the general hospital of Gusau.

“We received a request from the State Government that they urgently need a quotation for the selected items. Because of that, out of goodwill, we feel the need to donate the items at no cost,” Falaki stated.

Among the entourage of the Managing Director of Minjirya Health Services Limited was a member of House of Representatives representing Daura/Sandamu/Mai’Adua Federal Constituency of Katsina State, Hon. Aminu Jamo.
