According to him, the cadets being trained  today are for tomorrow’s warfare, stressing that when they get to that period they should be able to adapt to a rapidly changing world and be able to give the necessary effects into strategic decision making process.

Gen. Ochai said one of the skills he would be promoting is the use of technology among the cadets.

The commandant who spoke to newsmen in Jos at the ongoing Camp Highland in Citizenship and Leadership Training Shere Hills, Jos, added that the new crop of army personnel that would join the Nigerian armed forces had received all the necessary training that would equip them to combat insurgents.

About 315 cadets of Direct Short Service Course 27 Nigerian and Direct Short Service Course 31 Nigerian Air-Force were involved in the training.

“The exercise is an important military training activity used in ascertaining the preparedness of the cadets for commissioning as officers into the Nigeria armed forces.

“It is designed to test the cadets’ leadership skills, physical fitness as well as command and control abilities, among other military competencies,” he said.

The training which is the final outdoor exercise for the cadets was also designed to build a strong enduring character in them.

“By 2050 Nigeria will be the third most populous country in the world and it was predicted that the Nigerian economy will be the 6th biggest in the world, at that level of prosperity they must be prepared to defend such affluence which  comes with responsibility both regional and globally,” he said.
