Chairman of the House of Representatives committee on Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Hon. Prince Abiodun Aderin Adesida has assured the FRSC of its support to better ensure safety on the federal roads.

Adesida, who represents Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency of Ondo State in the House gave the  assurance when FRSC in the National Assembly, led by their Commander, Labaran Mustapha paid him a courtesy call.

Adesida, said he is optimistic the committee will do justice to the challenges facing the commission and provide the requisite support to enable them actualise the mandate.

He said, “It’s a welcome visit and actually an impromptu visit because my deputy is not here, if I had known I would have called him in, but they briefed me on the activities of the FRSC  right from inception, how it evolved from the old western states in those days to the present position we are in now, and I told him that I have a full knowledge of how it started because I was a student of the University of Ife well back in 1977, so I know much about FRSC; for instance, Dr. Oluagoleye, amongst others that started the program.

“So they enumerated a few of their challenges, which I believe we will be able to try our best at the Committee level when fully constituted, because members are not constituted yet. We are up the task. I believe we will be able to leave a legacy at the end of our tenure”, he said.

Earlier, the FRSC commander explained their purpose of  the courtesy call was to update the FRSC House chairman on their activities/challenges in line with their tradition of paying each and every new chairman that comes on board.

The commander and his team look visibly elated for the warm reception accorded them by the FRSC committee chairman.

In the view of the Corps Commander, “ when we see people that are promising, we will know it. Those that are not likely to give you the desired result, you will know it from the onset. The way we discussed, I now realised that he is actually a progressive person that wants success in whatever he does; and he is willing to understand the organisation so that he can make meaningful contributions. He mentioned some things based on our discussion and he is going to pursue it so that it will come to reality.

“There are so many challenges that we can not do the lobby ourselves as an organisation, we can only pass through the Committee so that we can be able to achieve what we want through the Committee because the lobby might be very difficult and tasking for an Organization, but the Members of the House on the floor can do the lobby peacefully and quietly to get the desired results.” he explained.
