Pandemonium broke out in the Ojota area of Lagos yesterday when a Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) official was allegedly attacked by unidentified “uniformed soldiers” at the Ojota motor park of Lagos.

It was gathered that the incident which happened was due to an earlier altercation between a soldier and LASTMA official over the weekend that was seen in a viral video where the LASTMA official was hitting an unidentified soldier with a wooden object before it was collected from the state traffic warden around the Ojota Garage in Lagos.

A trader at the scene of the incident said. “This thing first happened last Friday, it is not right to beat a soldier while in uniform, it sounds disrespectful.

‘’The soldiers came back and started beating the LASTMA official as they set their eyes on him,” she stated.

Over the weekend, a viral video was in circulation, where a soldier who was sitting in front of a vehicle at a bus stop was forced to alight following a verbal altercation between him and a LASTMA officer.

This, however, resorted to a brawl, as the soldier was beaten with a wooden object by the road traffic official before the wooden object was forcibly taken off him.

However, observers said the attack on the LASTMA official in the same location was a reprisal attack by some unidentified soldiers who besieged the Ojota post of the LASTMA officials and began to pounce on anyone they saw on the scene before fleeing the scene.

As of the time of filing this report, no word has been issued by the officials of LASTMA and the Nigerian Army.
