A statement by the Spokesperson to the Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, said that the inauguration of the government establishments took place at the State Executive Council Chamber, Government House, Gusau.

He explained that the appointment of chairmen and members of the three bodies was in accordance with the provision of Section 4 (7) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), which empowers the Zamfara State House of Assembly to make laws for the good governance of the State, particularly on items that are not within the exclusive legislative list, hence the establishment of the Tribunals.

He said: “Governor Lawal charged the chairmen and members of the Anti-corruption, Rent and Land Allocation Tribunal to discharge their duties diligently with the utmost sense of responsibility, integrity, competence, and trust.

“Section 15 (5) of the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), as part of the political objectives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, enjoins Nigeria as a nation and invariably States within the Federal Republic of Nigeria to take necessary steps to abolish corrupt practices and abuse of power.

“The Governor also lamented the damage done to democracy and socio-economic well-being by corruption, abuse of office, and misuse of government properties cannot be over-emphasized.

“The chairmen and members of the Tribunal were not inaugurated to witch-hunt anybody for political reasons but to concentrate on how to recover, if any, monies, and properties of the good people of Zamfara State that were allegedly diverted to individual pockets or ownership as the case may be.”
