Abia State head of service (HoS), Joy Maduka, has said the state public service would soon be purged of vices such as ghost workers syndrome, among others
Maduka stated this while officially declaring open the physical verification/audit and human resources management exercise in the state in the state capital, Umuahia.
She said after the two-week exercise, which was launched simultaneously across the 17 local governments, the genuine workers would have all the dividends of the service.
“Since the inception of the Alex Otti administration, there has been a focused action to streamline the activities of the service with a view to bettering the lots of the workers,” she said.
Explaining that it would also enhance efficient and effective service delivery mechanism of the service, the HoS enjoined the workers to fully participate in the exercise.
Chuka Agomuo, who is coordinating the exercise, assured the workers that it was not aimed at witch-hunting any worker but to put the records right.
Similarly, the team head of the company handling the exercise, Joseph Bamidele, said it was 80 percent completed, adding that the minor challenges were being addressed.
Bamidele, who allayed the fears that the records could be hacked, maintained that the good thing about it is that it goes through many hands and stages to be completed.
