Youth ForumTask New FCT Minister On Inclusion, Security, Others

The FCT Youth Stakeholders Forum has identified key areas that the new Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike

would needs to focus on to achieve quick wins for the people of Abuja.

The forum commended Mr. President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the caliber of Ministers he appointed to take charge of the affairs of FCT.

They described Wike as a performer and a mobilizer whose track record in Rivers State are available for all to see, while Dr. Mairiga Mahmud, who happens to be a youth is a sound intellectual and seasoned campaigner for a good cause.

In a press statement jointly signed by Comrade Suleiman Abdullahi Ango, Commander Isaac David and others, the forum pledged her readiness to work with the new FCT administration towards the growth and development of the FCT as a model capital city in Africa.

They urged the new administration to focus on urban renewal to bring it back to a position of pride in Nigeria and Africa as a whole, saying that FCT need good hands to handle the management of the city as promised by the Honorable minister in his address on assumption of office.

In the area of education, they said there is need to rejig both the primary and secondary education in Abuja to ensure quality education, the tertiary education is in dire need of better commitment and overhaul.

FCT College of Education is in need of improved funding and massive infrastructural development to enable the institution absorb more young persons in Abuja and for it to compete with other institutions across the country.

“The FCT University of Science and Technology, Abaji is also in n”eed of funding and political will for take-off with a view to helping in producing young vibrant graduates in different fields of science that will drive the economy of Nigeria.”

They further emphasised the need
need to revitalize the agency and to improve its performance towards the development of the satellite towns, address insecurity in FCT while calling for youth Inclusion.

They also lamented that FCT has deteriorated in terms of environmental sanitation management, and there is a need for a more holistic approach to improve environmental sanitation management beyond mere waste collection and disposal towards sustainable development of the FCT.
