LEADERSHIP and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have announced a new date for the drug abuse conference earlier scheduled to hold on August 3.
In a statement released by LEADERSHIP, the company said the conference will now hold on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at the Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja.
“We deeply appreciate the support and understanding of our partners, resource persons, and participants, who have been in earnest to have this important solution-based conference,” the statement said. “We’re happy that we have finally settled on a date to have the conference. The content has also been compellingly enriched.”
The conference themed, “Drug abuse, crime, insecurity and national development,” has been hailed as an important social intervention at this time.
LEADERSHIP, had with NDLEA and its partners agreed to host a conference to highlight the dangers of drug abuse and its impact on crime and national development, while also examining solutions to the epidemic.
According to the United Nations drugs use survey of 2017, based on a population projection of 98 million Nigerians, 14.3 million Nigerians are involved in the use of illicit and psychotropic drugs.
Apart from the Chairman of NDLEA, General Buba Marwa (rtd), the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu; and foremost lawyer and human rights activists, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, have among others, accepted to participate in the event.
