It was learnt that his press crew had left Akure for Lagos to receive him at the airport.

According to a source, the governor is also expected to be briefed by his cabinet members on return.

A source told LEADERSHIP, “I’m also aware that some members of the State Exco might likely visit him there to welcome him back to the state.”

A viral picture of Governor Akeredolu inside an aircraft on his way to Nigeria has surfaced online.

At the time of this report, some of his cabinet members were already in Ibadan, Oyo State capital awaiting his arrival.

The governor began his medical leave in June and was later extended indefinitely by the State House of Assembly while the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been the acting governor of the State since then.

The governor had transferred power to Aiyedatiwa in line with constitutional provisions.

Recall that photographs and video of the governor recuperating in a German hospital emerged when he celebrated his 67th birthday.

In the video, the governor was seen dancing alongside his wife and some close associates.
